HENDERSON, NEV. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) begins a $3 million, 2-mile-long beautification project along Interstate 515, also known as U.S. Highway 95, at Russell Road on October 22 in Henderson. Fisher Sand & Gravel is the contractor. The project calls for placing 15,000 tons of decorative rock and boulders along both sides of the interstate, providing visual enhancement while curtailing slope erosion. Work also entails drainage improvements, including lining channel with geotextile fabrics.

Construction will occur Monday through Friday during normal daytime work hours, with rock deliveries scheduled at night resulting in freeway shoulder closures one mile north and south of Russell Road. The project is scheduled to finish by late February 2019.

Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors.
