Two Weekend I-15 Closures Planned in Resort Corridor

Closures Begin July 11 for Paving and Striping

Post Date:07/07/2025 3:13 PM

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is alerting motorists to two major weekend closures of Interstate 15 (I-15) in the heart of the resort corridor as part of ongoing work for the I-15 Tropicana Interchange Project. Crews will be paving and striping the interstate, requiring full directional closures over two consecutive weekends in July.

Northbound I-15 Closure- 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 11 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 14

  • FULL CLOSURE of northbound I-15 between Russell Rd and Flamingo Rd
  • Ramp closures include:
    • Westbound I-215 transfer ramp to northbound I-15
    • Eastbound I-215 transfer ramp to northbound I-15
    • Russell Rd on-ramp to northbound I-15
    • Tropicana Ave on-ramp to northbound I-15
    • Las Vegas Blvd on-ramp to northbound I-15
  • Detour: Drivers can exit I-15 at the Russell Road off-ramp, travel north on Decatur Boulevard, and re-enter I-15 at the Flamingo Road on-ramp

Southbound I-15 Closure- 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 18 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 21

  • FULL CLOSURE of southbound I-15 between Spring Mountain Rd and Tropicana Ave
  • Ramp closures include:
    • Spring Mountain Rd on-ramp to southbound I-15
    • Flamingo Rd on-ramp to southbound I-15
    • Harmon Ave on-ramp to southbound I-15
  • Detour: Drivers can exit I-15 at the Spring Mountain Rd off-ramp, travel south on Decatur Blvd, and re-enter I-15 at the Tropicana Ave on-ramp.

The schedule is weather dependent, as paving requires warm, dry conditions—even during overnight hours. This will be the final major closure for the I-15/Tropicana Project; any remaining work will involve limited traffic impacts.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
