REMINDER: Southbound I-15 Closure This Weekend

Post Date:07/17/2025 8:07 AM

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is reminding motorists to plan ahead for a full directional closure of southbound Interstate 15 (I-15) in the heart of the resort corridor this weekend, July 18-21. Crews will be paving and striping the interstate as part of the I-15 Tropicana Interchange Project.

Southbound I-15 Closure - 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 18 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 21

  • FULL CLOSURE of southbound I-15 between Spring Mountain Rd and Tropicana Ave
  • Ramp closures include:
    • Spring Mountain Rd on-ramp to southbound I-15
    • Flamingo Rd on-ramp to southbound I-15
    • Harmon Ave on-ramp to southbound I-15
  • Detour: Drivers can exit I-15 at the Spring Mountain Rd off-ramp, travel south on Decatur Blvd, and re-enter I-15 at the Tropicana Ave on-ramp.

Additionally, there will be southbound I-15 ramp closures and lane restrictions from Tropicana Ave to the I-215 Interchange on Saturday, July 19, from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for overhead sign installation.

Southbound I-15 Ramp Closures and Lane Restrictions - Saturday, July 19, 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Ramp closures include:
    • I-15 southbound collector distributor road from Sunset Rd to the I-215 Interchange
    • Southbound I-15 ramp to westbound I-215
    • Russell Rd on-ramp to southbound I-15
    • Tropicana Ave on-ramp to southbound I-15
  • Lane Restrictions: Northbound I-15, from I-215 to Sunset Rd will have 4 lanes open
  • Detour: Drivers can exit I-15 at the Spring Mountain Rd off-ramp, travel south on Decatur Blvd, and re-enter I-15 via I-215 east.

The operation is weather dependent, as paving requires warm, dry conditions—even during overnight hours. This weekend closure will be the final major closures for the I-15 Tropicana Project; any remaining work will involve limited traffic impacts.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
