Post Date:07/24/2025 8:42 AM
CARSON CITY, Nev. – Lane and sidewalk closures will begin July 28 on sections of Winnemucca Boulevard and Fourth Street in Winnemucca as the Nevada Department of Transportation installs flashing pedestrian crossing beacons and other pedestrian safety improvements.
Intermittent lane and sidewalk closures will take place July 28 through early fall between 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays, with potential periodic evening and overnight closures, in the following areas:
• Three crosswalk locations near the intersection of West Winnemucca Boulevard and West Fourth Street
• Intersection of West Winnemucca Boulevard and Lay Street
• Intersection of East Winnemucca Boulevard and Haskell Street/Fairgrounds Road
One-time road closures of up to 15 minutes should also be expected at each location as signal arms are installed over the road.
Motorists are advised to leave extra travel time and to drive safely through the work zones.
The following pedestrian safety enhancements will be installed:
• Electronic rapid flashing pedestrian crossing beacons will be installed, allowing pedestrians to activate the signs to help stop traffic as they cross the street.
• Enhanced street lighting and pedestrian ramps will be installed in certain areas.
The improvements will help enhance safety for pedestrians traveling between hotels, restaurants, businesses, and more.
