Overnight Lane Restrictions Continue on Sunset Road Paving Project

Post Date:10/08/2025 12:22 PM

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is announcing an updated schedule of traffic restrictions on Sunset Road (State Route 562) as part of an ongoing pavement rehabilitation project. Work will improve nearly three miles of pavement between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive, enhancing safety and extending the life of the roadway.

The $12.9 million federally funded project includes milling and paving Sunset Road as well as lowering utilities, removing and replacing median islands, and upgrading striping and electrical items.

Traffic Restrictions:

Nightly (8 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) Sunday through Friday, October 10-October 25:

  • Sunset Rd reduced to one lane in each direction between Las Vegas Blvd and Annie Oakley Dr
  • Most work will occur on eastbound Sunset Road between Las Vegas Boulevard and Eastern Avenue.
  • Traffic control will shift as needed to accommodate the work, with at least one travel lane open at all times. Schedule and restrictions are subject to change.

During daytime hours, multiple lanes will remain open in both directions to accommodate heavy traffic volumes, particularly near the airport connector.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
