The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) today celebrated the substantial completion of the I-15 South Widening Project, a major infrastructure investment designed to increase capacity and support continued growth in Southern Nevada’s south valley and freight corridors.
The $71 million project was delivered on schedule and under budget, improving I-15 between Sloan Road and Warm Springs Road and expanding capacity along one of the region’s busiest commuter and freight routes. Construction began in January 2024 and reached substantial completion in December 2025.
Local and state leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the project’s completion, including NDOT Deputy Director Mario Gomez, Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft, Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony, and Fisher Industries Owner Tommy Fisher. The project highlights the strong collaboration between NDOT, local partners, and industry leaders in delivering critical transportation improvements for Southern Nevada.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
- Widened I-15 from six to eight general-purpose lanes between Sloan Road and St. Rose Parkway
- Widened I-15 from six to 11 general-purpose lanes between St. Rose Parkway and Blue Diamond Road
- Restriped I-15 between St. Rose Parkway and Blue Diamond Road
- Resurfaced bridges and preserved pavement at the Blue Diamond interchange
- Constructed six new sound walls near qualifying residential areas
The I-15 South Widening Project was delivered by contractor Fisher Sand & Gravel and funded through a combination of federal and state transportation dollars, with approximately 95% of the project funded by federal sources.
