NDOT Reaches Substantial Completion of I-215 Preservation Project

Post Date:03/12/2026 7:07 AM

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has reached substantial completion on its pavement preservation project on eastbound Interstate 215 (IR-215) between the I-15 interchange and Windmill Lane. This $18.95 million federally funded investment delivers a smoother commute and enhanced safety for one of the Las Vegas Valley’s most heavily traveled corridors.

The project improved nearly four miles of roadway and included:

  • Pavement repairs and new pavement surfacing.
  • Structural repairs and joint maintenance.
  • Signage, signal, and lighting upgrades for better visibility.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements.
  • Fiber optic and ITS expansion to enhance the regional traffic management network.
  • Three new wrong-way driver alert systems.

Wrong-Way Driver Alert System Locations:

While infrastructure is in place, please note that testing is currently ongoing and these systems are not yet online at the following locations:

  • Westbound I-215 off-ramp to Las Vegas Blvd
  • Westbound I-215 off-ramp to Warm Springs Rd
  • Westbound I-215 off-ramp to Windmill Ln

With the majority of work complete, the speed limit through the project area has returned to 65 mph.

NDOT thanks motorists for their patience during construction and reminds drivers to continue using caution when traveling through active work zones.
