Airport Connector Ramp Closure, Ongoing Lane Reductions near Sunset Road

Post Date:04/02/2026 11:11 AM

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is announcing an updated schedule of traffic restrictions on Sunset Road (State Route 562) as part of an ongoing pavement rehabilitation project. Work will improve nearly three miles of pavement between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive, enhancing safety and extending the life of the roadway.

The following restrictions are necessary for paving, bridge inspections, and signage work.

11 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, to 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 8:

  • Sunset Rd on-ramp to southbound Airport Connector (SR-171) closed
  • Two right lanes closed on southbound Airport Connector
  • Detour: Drivers will continue west on Sunset Rd to southbound Las Vegas Blvd and access the Airport Connector via I-215 connections

Nightly (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) Wednesday, March 25 to Monday, April 13:

  • Sunset Rd (SR-562) reduced to one lane in each direction between Eastern Ave and Annie Oakley Dr
  • Pilot Dr. and Grier Dr. bridges over the Airport Connector: reduced to one side of the bridge, both directions of traffic sharing the open side
  • Sunset Rd bridge over Airport Connector: Intermittent double lane closures (left or right lanes)
  • No work will take place on Friday or Saturday evenings

Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
