State Route 278 will be closed to through traffic July 10 as Union Pacific Railroad performs railroad crossing maintenance.

State Route 278 will be closed to through traffic from West Main Street/Tomera Ranch Road in Carlin to U.S. 50 near Eureka from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10.

State Route 278 travels between I-80 at Carlin and the U.S. 50 junction near Eureka. While alternate routes are sparse in the rural area, a potential option includes State Route 305 connecting Austin and Battle Mountain.

The highway closure date is subject to change.
