General Over Dimensional Vehicle Permit Information
Over Dimensional Vehicle (ODV) permits are only issued by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Carson City Office or online. There are no Ports of Entry or other locations that issue permits. Permits are needed for all oversized or overweight vehicles (see information below), and authorize movement according to vehicle dimensions and weight. Permittees are responsible for complying with any applicable instructions and route restrictions for Weight, Wide Loads, Long Loads, and Spring Thaw (please see below).
Applications for a permit do not guarantee permit approval. An oversized or overweight permit is issued if the travel route provides the necessary clearances and load capacity to allow safe passage. More stringent route restrictions may be placed on some permits. Unless specifically stated in the permit rules or on the permit, vehicles must comply with all of Nevada's motor vehicle laws.
Original (signed) permit must be carried at all times. No copies are allowed.
