Overview

Although NDOT is not a transit service provider, the agency plays an important role in funding and organizing transit services throughout the state. NDOT administers four Federal Transit Administration (FTA) programs for rural public transit funding assistance in Nevada. These include:

  • 5304: State Planning and Research Program
  • 5310: Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program
  • 5311: Rural Area Program
  • 5339: Bus and Bus Facilities Program

The agency also has a dedicated transit team who focuses on the administration of federal transit grants and regularly coordinates with the state’s transit providers. The transit team can be reached at: transitteam@dot.nv.gov

Transit Providers

There are a variety of transit providers in Nevada, serving the needs of the state’s residents in both urban and rural areas. Transit providers who are currently receiving federal transit funding assistance through NDOT are listed below, including contact information.

INTERCITY SERVICE

NDOT has partnered with Greyhound to provide a Reno – Salt Lake City route that will operate twice daily, seven days a week, with stops at:

  • Sparks, NV – 1421 Victorian Ave
  • Battle Mountain, NV – Golden Gate Petro Travel Center
  • Elko, NV – Sinclair Gas Station
  • Winnemucca, NV – Winners Inn & Casino
  • West Wendover, NV – West Wendover Welcome Center
  • Salt Lake City, UT – 300 S 600 W

Passengers can book tickets for the new Reno – Salt Lake City route at www.greyhound.com or via the FlixBus mobile app.
