SafeTech Corridor Project
Project Overview
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), in partnership with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), began construction on the I-11 SafeTech Corridor Project on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The initiative will expand advanced traffic management technology along approximately five miles of Interstate 11 (I-11)/U.S. Route 95 (U.S. 95) between Summerlin Parkway and the Spaghetti Bowl interchange.
The approximately $22 million project, funded through a combination of federal, state, regional, and local transportation funding sources, is designed to improve real-time traffic operations, congestion management, and roadway safety along one of southern Nevada’s busiest freeway corridors.
Major project improvements include:
- Seven Active Traffic Management (ATM) gantries capable of displaying real-time speed, lane use, and incident messaging.
- 12 Wrong-Way Driver Alert Systems at six interchange locations: Martin Luther King Boulevard, Rancho Drive, Valley View Boulevard, Decatur Boulevard, Jones Boulevard, and Rainbow Boulevard, with two systems installed at each interchange.
- Two Strategic Traffic Management Sites for law enforcement and incident response operations.
- Additional intelligent transportation systems (ITS) infrastructure to support system integration and future traffic management operations.
