Sunset Road Paving Project
Project Overview
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is undertaking a paving and preservation project on Sunset Road (State Route 562). Work will improve nearly three miles of pavement between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive, enhancing safety and extending the life of the roadway. The project is anticipated to be completed by Summer 2026.
The project includes milling and paving Sunset Road as well as lowering utilities, removing and replacing median islands, and upgrading striping and electrical items.
Current Restrictions
Nightly (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) Sunday night through Friday morning, through Thursday, July 30:
- Lane reductions on Sunset Road from South Las Vegas Boulevard to Annie Oakley Drive
- Left and right turn lanes/pockets as well as some right turn lanes will be closed periodically
Nightly (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.) Sunday night through Friday morning, through Monday, August 10:
- Sunset Rd/Grier Drive to Airport Connector ramp closed
- Intermittent closures from Airport Connector to westbound I-215
- Intermittent closures from Airport Connector to Hidden Well Rd
- Intermittent closures from Airport Connector to Warm Springs Rd
- Reduced lanes from southbound Airport Connector from Grier Dr overpass to I-215
During daytime hours, multiple lanes will remain open in both directions to accommodate heavy traffic volumes, particularly near the airport connector.
Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
