Project Overview
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is undertaking a paving and preservation project on Sunset Road (State Route 562). Work will improve nearly three miles of pavement between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive, enhancing safety and extending the life of the roadway. The project is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2026.
The project includes milling and paving Sunset Road as well as lowering utilities, removing and replacing median islands, and upgrading striping and electrical items.
Current Restrictions
11 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, to 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 8:
- Sunset Rd on-ramp to southbound Airport Connector (SR-171) closed
Nightly (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) Sunday, April 12 through Friday, May 8:
- Lane reductions on Sunset Road in both directions between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive
8 p.m. Sunday, April 12 to 5 a.m. Monday, April 13:
- Left lane closed on southbound Airport Connector, shifting to right lane overnight
- Southbound Airport Connector ramp to eastbound I-215 reduced to one lane
Nightly (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) Thursday, April 16, Sunday, April 19, and Monday, April 20:
- Double left lane closure on southbound Airport Connector
Nightly (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) Tuesday, April 21 through Thursday, April 23:
- Double right lane closure on southbound Airport Connector
- Grier Drive on-ramp to southbound Airport Connector closed
- Airport Connector off-ramp to Hidden Wells Road reduced to one lane
8 p.m. Sunday, April 26 through 5 a.m. Thursday, April 30 (continuous):
- Left lane closed on southbound Airport Connector
- Southbound Airport Connector ramp to eastbound I-215 reduced to one lane
8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 through 5 a.m. Thursday, May 7 (continuous):
- Left lane closed on southbound Airport Connector
- Southbound Airport Connector ramp to eastbound I-215 reduced to one lane
During daytime hours, multiple lanes will remain open in both directions to accommodate heavy traffic volumes, particularly near the airport connector.
Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
