Project Overview
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is undertaking a paving and preservation project on Sunset Road (State Route 562). Work will improve nearly three miles of pavement between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive, enhancing safety and extending the life of the roadway. The project is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2026.
The project includes milling and paving Sunset Road as well as lowering utilities, removing and replacing median islands, and upgrading striping and electrical items.
Current Restrictions
24 hours daily beginning Monday evening, May 11, through Tuesday morning, May 19:
- Southbound Airport Connector ramp to eastbound I-215 reduced to one lane
- Single lane closure on southbound Airport Connector approaching ramp work zone
8 p.m. Monday, May 11 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 12:
- Double right lane closure on southbound Airport Connector
- Sunset Road/ Grier Road on-ramp to Airport Connector closed
- Single lane closure on southbound Airport Connector ramp to westbound I-215
- Single lane closure on southbound Airport Connector ramp to Hidden Well Road
8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 13:
- Double right lane closure on southbound Airport Connector
- Single lane closure on southbound Airport Connector ramp to westbound I-215
- Single lane closure on southbound Airport Connector ramp to Hidden Well Road
8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 to 5 a.m. Thursday, May 14:
- Double left lane closure on southbound Airport Connector
- Southbound Airport Connector ramp to Warm Springs Road reduced to one lane; full closure from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.
- Single lane closure on southbound Airport Connector ramp to westbound I-215
- Detour routes will direct motorists to Las Vegas Boulevard and eastbound I-215 to reconnect with Warm Springs Road
8 p.m. Thursday, May 14 to 5 a.m. Friday, May 15:
- Southbound Airport Connector ramp to westbound I-215 reduced to one lane; full closure from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.
- Double left lane closure on southbound Airport Connector
- Detour routes will direct motorists to Las Vegas Boulevard to access westbound I-215
During daytime hours, multiple lanes will remain open in both directions to accommodate heavy traffic volumes, particularly near the airport connector.
Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
