The U.S. 50 East of Dayton Preservation Project will repave and improve the highway from just east of Fortune Drive to 500 feet east of Bryce Street/Chaves Road in Lyon County.
PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS
- Repave U.S. 50 from Fortune Drive to east of Bryce Street/Chaves Road
- Traffic signals at Cardelli Road/River Boat Road and Six Mile Canyon Road/Fort Churchill Road
- Maintain two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction
- Median installation at intersections for access control
- Drainage and signage improvements
- Posted speed limits will be reduced from 60 mph to 55 mph from east of Fortune Drive to east of Bryce Street. Speed management signage will also be installed to help raise awareness of the speed limit.
- Modifications to control access to the highway at the following intersections:
- Graves Drive
- East Enterprise Way
- North Pinenut Drive
Where appropriate, high-T intersections will be incorporated. High-T intersections are three-way intersections on roadways with high traffic volumes designed to improve traffic flow for all roadway users. An example of this type of intersection can be found in Dayton on U.S. 50 at Fortune Drive.
